Frequently Asked Questions

While we’re out bringing the clean to as many houses as possible, we often hear many of the same questions. Here are our most frequently asked questions, and their answers:

What are the benefits of power washing for my home or business?

There are many benefits to power washing your home or business. Here are a few of the most common:

– Increased curb appeal: Power washing can remove dirt, grime, and mold from the exterior of your home or business, making it look its best. This can increase the value of your property and make it more appealing to potential buyers or tenants.

– Extended lifespan of materials: Power washing can remove dirt and grime that can damage the materials on your home or business, such as siding, brick, and concrete. This can help to extend the lifespan of these materials and prevent costly repairs.

– Improved safety: Power washing can remove mold and mildew, which can be harmful to your health. Growths that occur on walkways towards your home or business can become very slick in wet conditions, which is also a hazard for you and your patrons.

– Ease of Cleaning: Power washing can take off the hard-to-clean infestations on your home or business, making future cleanings much easier to perform!

What types of surfaces can be power washed?

Applying heavy pressure to surfaces, as would be done in power washing, is generally saved for hard surfaces such as concrete, brick, stucco, etc.

However, our soft washing process that we use for house washing is much less violent towards the surface it is being applied to. This allows us to work on roof shingles, vinyl siding, and other delicate areas of the home, without causing any damage!

Do you offer rust removal services?

We do offer rust treatment services! Many driveways, sidewalks, and even foundations of homes will have rust stains, even when metal hasn’t been near, as concrete can be manufactured with some degree of metal in them, which over time will rust and bleed out onto the visible surface. We can severely lighten, if not completely remove, these rust stains!

Do you offer roof cleaning services? If so, is it safe for my roof?

Yes we do offer roof cleaning! As is the same with our siding house wash services, every roof is different and requires its own process, with its own soaps and solutions. Our soft wash pumps allow us to be very delicate on your roof, only removing the growth and dirt while maintaining the integrity of your roof.

Regarding if it is safe, our soft wash process is the only process that has been approved by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association for regular treatment of roofs, and has proven reliable, safe, and effective every time!

What chemicals do you use to clean my home? Is it dangerous for my garden and/or landscaping?

That depends on the type of dirt or growth on your home. We have many different soaps and solutions that we bring to each home depending on if it suffers from dirt, cobwebs, gloeocapsa magma, algae, mildew, and many other common infestations. Every home is different, and deserves a house wash that is tailored to its specific needs!

Regardless the type of house wash we perform, we are very careful to ensure that all plants are kept safe by either extensively watering them so the soaps won’t affect them, or by tarping the area off entirely in order to prevent any contact in the first place. We love plants, and are proud to have a perfect record of ensuring their safety!

Do you offer driveway cleaning services?

Yes we do! We have specialized surface cleaning equipment that can be adjusted in both pressure and volume to suit your specific cleaning needs, be it a driveway, sidewalk, or other hard surfaces. We also have chemical treatments that we can apply to perform many different kinds of concrete stain removal.

Can pressure washing hurt my home?

Yes, pressure washing can be very dangerous to your home if not done by a professional! The high-pressure water can damage siding, wood, and other materials. It can also force water into cracks and crevices, which can lead to mold and mildew growth.

Here are some of the things that can be damaged by pressure washing:

– Siding: Pressure washing can damage vinyl siding, wood siding, and stucco. It can also remove paint and caulk.

– Windows: Pressure washing can damage windows, especially if the water pressure is too high. It can also loosen the caulk around the windows, which can allow water to seep in.

– Landscaping: Pressure washing can damage plants and flowers. It can also erode the soil around plants, which can make them more susceptible to drought and pests.

How often should I power wash my home?

The frequency of power washing your home will depend on a few factors, such as the type of siding you have, the climate you live in, and how much dirt and grime builds up on your home.

Type of siding: Vinyl siding requires less frequent power washing than wood siding. Wood siding is more porous and can absorb dirt and moisture, which can lead to mold and mildew growth. Homes made primarily of brick, stucco, or other materials will also require regular maintenance, as these surfaces give hold to growth quickly, as well as suffering from efflorescence, rust stains, and more.

Amount of dirt and grime: If you live in an area with a lot of pollen or dust, or if you have a lot of trees near your home, you may need to power wash your home more often. Shaded areas also show growth much sooner.

In general, most homes should be power washed about once a year. Looking at the north side of your home is a good judge, as that will usually be the first face to show growth and dirt!

What is the difference between power washing and soft washing?

Power washing and soft washing are both methods of cleaning surfaces, but they use different techniques.

Power washing uses high-pressure water streams to blast away dirt and grime. Our pressure washing equipment puts out roughly 3,000 PSI. While power washing is a quick and effective way to clean surfaces, it can also be damaging to some materials, such as softwood siding, delicate plants, and old paint. This is why we only use power washing on Concrete and Brick surfaces, such as driveways, sidewalks, and patios.

Soft washing uses our low-pressure pumps and cleaning solutions to clean surfaces. The water pressure is kept at or below 100 PSI, very similar pressure to that of your garden hose. Soft washing is a much more gentle method of cleaning, and it is very safe for use on delicate surfaces. That is why we use soft washing for the siding and roofs of homes, where pressure would cause extensive damage.

How often should I have my gutters cleaned?

1) The frequency of gutter cleaning depends on various factors such as your location, the surrounding environment, and the type of trees and debris in your vicinity. As a general guideline:

2) Twice a Year: It’s recommended to have your gutters cleaned at least twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall. These seasons are usually when trees shed leaves, twigs, and other debris that can clog your gutters.

3) Quarterly: If you have a lot of trees around your property, particularly deciduous trees that shed leaves heavily, you might need us to clean your gutters every three months to prevent clogs and water damage.

After Heavy Storms: If your area experiences severe storms with high winds and heavy rainfall, it’s a good idea to check your gutters for clogs and debris shortly after such events.

Remember that clogged gutters can lead to water damage to your home’s foundation, roof, and walls, so it’s important to keep them clean and in good working condition.
